What does a slice cost?
The pizza principle
For decades, a NYC slice and a subway ride cost the same. Here's today.

Hey, I'm JP — an NYU Stern student who loves data and cheap pizza. I built SliceDex to answer a simple question no one had data on: what does a plain slice actually cost across NYC?
Inspired by The Guinndex — Matt Cortland's AI-powered index of Guinness prices across Ireland. After it launched, at least one pub lowered their price after seeing their listing go live. That's price transparency at work.
Why it matters
SliceDex is two things: a repository I hope helps New Yorkers, and a proof of concept for what AI outbound calling can do.
As a consumer, I believe in the power of information to push economic actors toward the right behavior — pressure on the shops overcharging, reward for the ones charging fairly while keeping the quality up. Price transparency is the cheapest form of accountability.
I also built SliceDex as a proof of concept for AI outbound calling — a new avenue for sales and market research that, until very recently, was prohibitively expensive for most businesses.

An AI agent named Heather (ElevenLabs + Twilio) reached every shop and asked the price of a plain slice. Claude extracted prices from transcripts. Community members keep the index current by contributing prices they paid in person.
